The Lincoln memorial was erected in 1922 on reclaimed land, which is the most susceptible to erosion. In the future, when sea-levels will have been raised, it will remain a monument on an island connected by boardwalks for pedestrians and Arlington Memorial Bridge for vehicles. The dignified spirit of the place will be retained.
