Urbia Group's unique work on visionary strategies to adapt coastal cities to the impact of sea level rise has been acknowledged worldwide. The collaboration with Mark R. Hafen, University of South Florida, on hard and soft solutions in response to rising oceans has been published in the book "Sea Level Rise In Florida"by University Press of Florida.
Florida is one of the most vulnerable areas regarding the effects of climate change. Mark recently told Bernd that he and his colleagues hardly can hold a meeting without a few of them been called out on alert when one of the countless low-lying communities is again under pressure of storm surges or hurricanes. In this context a book that is both scientifically sound yet written in an accessible style is utterly needed to bring the population up to speed as many politicians of this state unfortunately are still in denial of the problem.
